connection string encryption fails on 2.12:2.3.18

Running on Pyspark 2.4 (HDinsight)

Tried to upgrade to 2.12:2.3.18, but when calling:
ehConf['eventhubs.connectionString'] = self.spark.sparkContext._gateway.jvm.org.apache.spark.eventhubs.EventHubsUtils.encrypt(connectionString)

I get the following error:
