Was testing out the bot today. It started with 10 different kokushi tiles, so it decided to go for it. After 4 discards from everyone, 3/4 of the 9-pin were on the table. This caused the bot to give up kokushi, despite being iishanten at this point. A real shame, because 2 draws later it drew the last 9-pin, and the last 9-man hadn't been seen yet (and was discarded shortly after).
If there had been any real danger, it would have made sense to fold the hand. However, there didn't seem to be any real threat at the time. And AlphaJong didn't fully fold either, it just gave up kokushi and try to make something else out of it.

Actually, my personal opinion is that 1,9 (wan, so, pin) and jihai are dangerous in the second half of the game, so the probability of discarding will be lower. It's just a matter of choice of efficiency, you can choose to reduce efficiency (default is 1.0).
