*.schema.mfl - is it used to localize the schema.mof file? #292
Comments
@mbreakey3 and @kwirkykat Is this something you can help answering? |
@johlju I think it's required for the in-box module (PSDesiredStateConfiguration) for localization for the Windows build. Mariah and I weren't really sure what it was for so we just left it in. @nitinbps @Indhukrishna @narrieta Do you know what the schema.mfl is for? |
Yes, the mfl file is used to localize actual MOF file. |
Cool @nitinbps. Do you know any site, article or blog explaining it? Curious what amended means, and what localization country codes can be used. |
@johlju There is some general information @ https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa389767(v=vs.85).aspx. |
@nitinbps Thank you for the link! So this is definitely something we should do. I will look at this and, if someone doesn't beat me to it, I will try to put together something for the BestPractices.md so this get documented. |

Marking this as documentation and help wanted. Can be added to Best Practices after PR #403 is merged. |
I see that there is a .mfl file in the en-US folder of the resource MSFT_WindowsFeature. Here; https://github.com/PowerShell/PSDscResources/blob/dev/DscResources/MSFT_WindowsFeature/en-US/MSFT_WindowsFeature.schema.mfl
Is this file used to localize the schema.mof file? If it is so, then I guess this should be added to other module resources when we start to localize.
I can't find any information about this file type anywhere (so far).
