Dealing with an already massive library of images and trying to tag them is currently not as easy as it should be. It would be nice to have the app auto-create tags from subfolder names. Then you can go in and add additional tags to images if you'd like. This could be a setting you can enable since this might not work for everyone. There could even be an option to

Let's say for instance I have a folder structure like this (and I add both to Allusion)

Concepts
Environments
Characters
Vehicles
etc.

Renders
Environments
Characters
Vehicles
etc.

It would be nice to have images from both Library/Location subfolders show up under the same tag if I select Environments and so on.

Also, I'm guessing AI Auto-tagging might be something the team will look into if not doing already? This would help to add additional tags to the subfolder tags.

We used to have functionality for creating tags from a folder structure that worked like that, but we got rid of it when cleaning things up at some point. Since you can already easily look for images by clicking on sub-folders in the locations panel, we haven't really felt the need to add it back in. It's something we could definitely bring back since it doesn't get in the way of anything 👍

About AI generated tags, we actually haven't really looked that much yet. We've always intended the tag hierarchy to be something that is consciously constructed with tags that matter to you personally. That's not really feasible with pre-trained models since the output is usually quite generic.
What might work is to train a model for every individual user inside of Allusion, or we could maybe train models per artist type. Either way, it would be really cool but it's a rabbit hole we'd rather not get involved with at the moment, seeing how long the current implementation took :)
