Dropdown in dark mode shows white background in Chrome (Ubuntu)

Everything shows up fine on my Macbook, but the dropdown in Chrome specifically shows a white background with white text:

It shows up normally on Firefox.

As a side note, the dark mode super select in Bullet Train shows up without an issue on the same machine:

FWIW, on a normal Bullet Train app a vanilla select tag shows the text somewhat gray-ish, but it's still visible.
