Now that we have EDTF-formatted dates for collections beyond digital collections, we'll have to humanize the display more broadly. E.g., DVS collections currently display dates like these:
1983/2005 (National Sample Survey)
1973/2012 (LAPOP)
1992/2008 (Polidata)
