There are some clusters I go to often by name (like the ESS overview cluster) and I get greeted with "Select your space" every time

It'd be great if kibana could remember that I always pick "Default" and click it for me.

I rarely want to switch spaces, but if I did, I can use the top bar space selector for that.

If there's another workaround (like to do a deployment-wide space default) let me know and I can propose that for the folks on @elastic/cloud-observability

Hey @matschaffer, it sounds like a duplicate of #21640. I don't think we have a workaround at this moment other than bookmarking a specific Kibana link (not / that will always render a space selector) and relying on it instead.

One difference from #21640 is that I think a kibana-wide setting could potentially also work here. Though per-user would be nice for people who typically want the non-default spaces.

I see, we discussed this in the past, but decided against this. See #19417 (comment) for more details (the PR is not for kibana-wide setting, but the idea is the same).

I'm going to close this issue in favor of #21640 since with user profiles we're much closer to the user preferences now. We finally have a dedicated user-specific store and ES APIs to deal with it (e.g. we already keep user avatar there).
