As an advanced feature of the date histogram operation, it should be possible to pick your intervals manually, effectively using a date range aggregation.

This is currently in the Lens by default list of features, but I don't think it's ready to implement. The main reason is that we have agreed that it's a confusing UX to use either absolute dates or dates relative to the request time, not time based on the time filter

There are some actions needed:

  • @AlonaNadler: Please provide examples of queries that you would expect to build using the date range aggregation
  • @cchaos: Please consider if we can clarify the behavior and UX
