Summary

PDF files a la 1Password's recovery kit have some interesting properties that are appealing for distributing recovery files to the general public:

  1. can embed images like QR codes
  2. test is selectable unlike screenshots
  3. official / hi-quality branding can be used, as well as clickable links to secondary documentation resources.

On the other hand, recovery keys in text files are easy to add to password managers, which I like very much.
