I'm running GRAV 1.7 RC11 ... if I Disable the Routable Override the menu item still works as normal. This should disable the menu item, but it is not functioning, I'm using sub-menu items instead, and have no need for the root menu item routable.

Actually what's odd is that I get a page 404 instead of it simply being a dead link like it should be. However, as soon as I add a sub-page/sub-menu item, then the root menu item defaults to that sub-page link, which is fine, just very odd as it did not use to work that way in the past. I will keep playing with it.

Sounds like a duplicate of: #127
The workaround here was to create a default.md in the root folder with routable: false.
I can confirm that latest update somehow destroyed this behaviour.
What works for me (but is not merged yet) is #134
