Is there any way I can disable the text-searching behavior?
I can hide the .angucomplete-searching using css but then I get an empty .angucomplete-dropdown box which is kinda ugly.
I want the dropdown to open only when the request has finished.

Probably the easiest is to provide your own template without the searching div.
