I don't have a plan to support GitLab. If you are interested, feel free to send a PR:)

Our company is switching to GitLab now. If it requires Gist, then we cannot use it unless GitLab support Gist. Has anyone successfully installed Lepton on GitLab? What's missing for this to happen?

GitLab Code Snippets feature is different enough from GitHub Gists that it would likely make more sense for a fork to be created that was based on GitLab, rather than integrating the feature into Lepton directly.

https://github.com/GitJournal/GitJournal takes a more abstract approach by using a git repo itself as storage, which may have some benefits

I've also filed a similar enhancement for taniarascia/takenote#301
