Welcome to HIP Discussions

This is the place for you to discuss an existing HIP to seek clarification, be part of the editing process to move HIPs through the HIP lifecycle, or to build consensus around an idea you have before drafting a HIP.

There are 4 categories of discussions that are functionally related to the HIP lifecycle.

• Ideas: This category is your "pre-HIP" place to discuss new ideas. Use this category to vet your idea for redundancy, soundness, and clarity as you prepare your draft pull request.
• Edits: Once you've gathered consensus and built a strong enough position, draft your HIP, submit the pull request, then use this category to discuss your HIP as you refine it and prepare it for its final state in the HIP lifecycle. Further developing your HIP may lead to it moving into a state that signifies finality such as Final, Rejected, Withdrawn, etc. In those cases where the HIP has reached its final state, the discussion should be locked.
• Q&A: This is where you can ask any question you have about any existing HIP. Curious about how to implement a specific standard? Have a question about the reasoning behind a design decision? Reference the HIP number in your question to get your answers.
• Show and tell: This is everyone's final goal, to build something meaningful. If what you built incorporates one or more HIPs, please share it with the community, highlighting the value of the HIP in your solution.
