Helios & HermesAt the gravitational center of the star system is its' primary, Helios. A reddish dwarf of a star, Helios, like all stars of its' type has a temperamental attitude. At times, the star will huff and puff and explode into fits of explosive energy discharge as the fusion fires burning at its' center churn and cycle on their own rhythm. Circling Helios in a close-in, mad dash of an orbit is Hermes. The surface is covered in arrays of solar panels that take advantage of the colossal energies available at such a close distance from the star. A majority of the output, the vast energies that are captured and harness are used to power the system's anti-matter factory, with the bulk of the remainder (which is still quite a lot of energy) is used to refine raw materials from asteroid material shipped in from 'up well'. Anti-matter being an incredibly energy-dense fuel source, it is best used in the outer system, where solar radiation drops to less usable levels. Space-Trucks depart from the Hermes launch facilities located in synchronous orbit, who almost immediately upon launch encounter the intense sleet of high-energy particles and photons that comprise Helios' stellar wind. |

Tellus and the Asteroid BeltThe shining blue-and-green jewel of the system, home to billions of denizens who pay the premium prices demanded by the planet-wide paradise. Manufactured goods from the Janus manufactories and high-margin delicacies are the primary imports. Past Tellus lies the rock-strewn area of rubble known just as "the asteroid belt". Dangers lie in store for the unwary Space-Trucker, for the centuries of mining and mineral exploitation have thrown up enough dust and debris as to constitute a navigational hazard. It is rumored that there is a vacuum-adapted species of giant carnivores who make their nests in asteroids while lying in wait for unsuspecting passer-by to be ensnared and eaten, but no confirmed sightings have been reliably reported by space-crews |

The Helios System
Space-Truckers is set in the Helios system, a star system very similar to our own Solar System.
Each post will highlight a portion of the system - enjoy the tour!
