Minimal example:

task foo {
x=a
case $x in
    a)
        echo "hi"
        ;;
    b)
        echo "hello"
        ;;
    esac
}

Gives

bash-4.2$ ducttape tmp.tape
ducttape 0.3

ERROR: Missing closing } brace for task block.
[...]/tmp.tape:4
    a)
    ^
