what happens

As someone who has Satcom chrome extension installed, and has it disabled, when I re-enable the extension satcom appears in my extension icon group (top right of browser). However, the satcom see comments & poast button (bottom right) is not visible until I restart chrome browser.

suggestion

Poast button should show immediately without chrome browser restart.

just to clarify, it does not have to "restart" to show the icon button on the website right? simply a page refresh will do.

the problem is that, the script is injected onto the site on page load, the only way to "show automatically" is somehow to trigger a page load. not sure if this is desired.

Confirmed. Correct.

Probably you are correct. Can you trigger a toast, notification, or similar that states "refresh the page in order to enable Satcom"
