[Bug] Annotations and hyperlinks on Kobo Desktop

I'm encountering a bug in Kobo Desktop Edition. When I have annotated a line of text (highlights or notes), clicking on the line immediately above or below the annotation causes the screen to refresh. This makes it impossible to add a new annotation immediately above or below an existing annotation, because on refresh any selected text is deselected.

A possibly related problem is that clicking one line above a hyperlink in the text (whether it points internally in the ebook or externally to the web) activates the hyperlink. This makes it impossible to select text when one must release the mouse button near a hyperlink to complete the selection.

I'm running Kobo Desktop Edition 4.30.14682 on an M1 Mac (MacOS Monterey 12.1).
