Feature request: Add an option to use Discord/Slack style horizontal swiping

Description

Trying to open the room list by swiping from the left edge of the phone screen is extremely hard one handed on these modern phablets we carry around. Slack and Discord have decided to let you do horizontal swipe at any point of the screen to quickly switch between the current room and the room listing.

I know this breaks some UI guidelines and it also conflicts with the quick reply feature but having an option for this would be very useful as most of the time I'm trying to catch up in multiple rooms one handed and I need to use the back button for that while getting the room list open with my thumb would be more ergonomic.
