you asked for this? Idea is to cut off tau so it doesn't go so low, and to see if there's another local maximum at higher tau values (not unphysical ones like we've been getting)

step prior might be wrong term? I mean that I'm am assigning a probability of zero to tau below a certain value.

usually called flat or top-hat
