I'm always frustrated when using OrganicMap because of this kinetic or smooth scrolling. Don't know how to call it properly. When I scroll the map after I lift my fingers the map continue scrolling and continue and continue. It wasn't the behavior from the old version of OrganicMaps. Not sure when it was added because I have forced to swith to Osmand because of this smoooooooooooooooooooooooth scrolling.

I can't focus on the map. I search map and can't focus on the objects (street names, buildings) because the map just continue moving for additional second.

If I compare Osmand, Google Map and OrganicMap only Organicmap has stand out smooth scrolling. And it's "smoothest" is much much much more than with competitors.

Well maybe it's fashionably maybe you guys wanted to show your skills, but this make at least for me the map doesn't usable at all. It's just the same trend as for example other tech companies make corners either round or sharp in the interface just because they can.

And even more. This kinetic scrolling doesn't work good, for example on my Pixel 7 device. It scrolls for a long time but is choppy

Since February I can't use OrganicMap because of this scrolling see the screenshot

Describe the ideal solution
Several options:

  • make the scroll the same as on Google Maps or Osmand
  • disable it completely
  • have an option to disable it manually on the user side

Could you please add some video?
Probably, it is a specific bug on your particular device, because OM kinetic is much more close (faster stop) than in Google Maps - tested right now on my Z Flip 5.

I confirm that on the Samsung Android 14 the kinetic scrolling is strange compared to iOS.

@webcaptcha Don't want to argue here, but it looks the same as Google, even on the video you did the next gesture while Google still didn't stop the previous animation :)
OSMAnd makes hard stop, yes.

Maybe it's more clearly. With big scale for example as user I want to follow the street to find objects. I tried to make similar scale and my feelings that Google map is making shorter scrolling. Maybe it's just a different stopping algorithm. On my just personal opinion the OrganicMap just before stopping is doing a slow fade scrolling.
