Overview
When navigating a route, it looks like the map shows all the same detail as when exploring the map. While seeing every street on the map is every useful when looking for a specific place, it not useful during navigation.

Problem Statement
During navigation, showing information on the map which is not relevant to the route, is distracting and reduces the overall navigation experience. Non-relevant street names can make it harder to see relevant street names, and this makes it harder to navigate to the correct route. The addresses which are included in the route are the buildings that should be displayed during the route, when all building numbers are displayed, the appearance looks messy and complicated.

Criteria

Streets

  • Streets/roads which are not part of the route and not adjacent to the route, are not displayed.
  • Streets which are not part of the route, but immediately next to the route, display, but in a font that is 30% smaller and instead of black color, display in grey, to reduce their prominence.

Buildings

  • Unless the building is one of the stops, the building number should not display in navigation mode.

There may be a very narrow use case for seeing everything, but it's not worth making the default a messy view just for that use case. If it's really necessary to have a regular non-messy view and a detailed view, there can be an option in Settings to switch between them.

Perhaps addresses close to destination are still useful, so the driver can be more aware of the final destination.

Could be. There are certain people who do pay attention to these, but this is probably a small number of people. The scenarios where this might be useful is if a person is not sure if the address they are navigating to is actually correct, or if the building is in an unusual location, where referencing other buildings is necessary.

When navigating to a location, the navigator directs to the front of the building, and if the destination is an apartment on the side of the building, walking to the side of the building is likely beyond the detail of what the navigator was designed for.

This is very similar to #8140
