Jenkins Master with the Hygieia Publisher Plugin

Hygieia is a metrics collection and dashboarding tool for tracking DevOps related metrics. One of the ways in which those metrics can be collected is by instrumenting a Jenkins Pipeline to push Build, Test, and Deploy events to a Hygieia API. To do this requires a custom Jenkins master image with the Hygieia Jenkins Plugin installed. This plugin is not currently published to the public Jenkins CDN, so we must build it from source and stream the binary into Jenkins.

This module provides the capability to do just that. It includes:

  • An S2I buildConfig that will build the Hygieia plugin .hpi file from source

  • An Image build that will copy the .hpi file into a Jenkins image

  • A sample Jenkins deployment that shows how this plugin can be configured.

Deploy the Quickstart

Deploy the quickstart with the following commands

cd jenkins-masters/hygieia-plugin
ansible-galaxy install -r requirements.yml -p galaxy
ansible-playbook -i .applier/ galaxy/openshift-applier/playbooks/openshift-cluster-seed.yml

Optional Configuration

The Jenkins instance that gets deployed will have the Hygieia plugin installed and running, but by default it will not be configured to point to an actual Hygieia API. To do this, you can pass some extra parameters to the Jenkins template:

HYGIEIA_API_URL: # The url to your hygieia API stack. This typically looks like https://hygieia.example.com:8080/api/
HYGIEIEA_API_TOKEN: # This is a token generated from the Hygieia UI. See http://hygieia.github.io/Hygieia/signup.html#generate-api-token for details

You can pass both of these straight into the Applier automation above via the command line:

ansible-playbook -i .applier/ galaxy/openshift-applier/playbooks/openshift-cluster-seed.yml -e hygieia_url=https://hygieia.example.com:8080/api/ -e hygieia_token=[paste token here]
