Cannot install Bluestacks into sandbox because my C: drive has too little space despite the sandbox being located in the D: drive, and Bluestacks doesn't allow you to change the installation directory of its program files #3440

Describe what you noticed and did

So I am trying to install Bluestacks 5, an android emulator into my Sandboxie Classic (v5.66.4) sandbox, but their installer is very stubborn and doesn't allow you to change the folder where the main files are stored, so it can only install into Program Files in my C: drive, which has 1 GB shy of the needed space for it to install, but my D: drive has hundreds of GB free, and my sandbox is located within my D: drive, so is there a way to spoof the size of my C: drive or change the location of the Program Files folder within my sandbox?

How often did you encounter it so far?

No response

You even do not need a Sandboxie.
Try mklink

@offhub Bluestacks 5 installer is very strange and only installs bloatware onto that custom location and not the main files https://www.reddit.com/r/BlueStacks/comments/17yon5n/bluestack_5_cannot_install_because_it_thinks_i/

@Simba98 I tried but cannot wrap my head around it. Can you show me an example command that makes Bluestacks think it is installing into Program Files when it is installing into a folder in my D drive? I don't want to affect any other program, just Bluestacks.

After changing the installation path, the BlueStacks 5 installer saves a total of ~300 MB of files on the C: drive. This size is not large enough to cause a "insufficient disk space" warning.

The installer probably extracts installation files to the %TMP% folder, so you may also need to set the %TMP% environment variable to a location other than the C: drive.

In addition, even if the installation is successful, the application will most likely not work in a sandbox.

Can you explain why that is? What settings can I change so that bluestacks will be able to work in my sandbox?
