How to add Pause in Playlist

I've followed the playlist example with eof_mp3 (described in the wiki), but I wanted to implement a short pause between every track (0.5 - 1s). So naturally I thought of the delay() function, however, it doesn't work. Neither does an empty loop for the time x work. So how is it possible to implement such a thing? Is there a function or listener I missed?
