At this time, it is believe that the current RELION Spack package does not explicitly contain all of the necessary dependencies to support its GUI. As such, it requires all of the required dependencies to be installed via the OS, which is not really the Spack way. We may be able to check the latest spack/spack upstream, or begin updating the Spack package to support the GUI more fully.
