  • I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates
  • I am submitting a bug report for existing functionality that does not work as intended
  • This isn't a feature request or a discussion topic

Steps to reproduce

  • Start a call
  • After call is answered, mute the microphone
  • Observe that the system orange dot indicates that the app is still receiving audio from the microphone

Actual result: Signal stops receiving audio when microphone is muted

Expected result: Signal still receives audio when microphone is muted.

I'm not sure if this is actually a "feature" but in this case, it's not recommended by Apple and teaches users to ignore the dot.

It also means that user can't tell apart whether the microphone is engaged but not sending to the participant, or is engaged and sending audio due to a security issue.

Device info

Device: iPhone 11
iOS version: 17.3
Signal version: 6.57
