We are OSAB, the project dedicated to developing Open Source Autonomous Boats. The OSAB Project team is a diverse group of global high school and college students. Our goal is to increase accessibility to science and environmental activism. How are we doing that? Here's How:

⛵ Autonomous Vessels As A Platform:
We are developing several autonomous vessels ranging from less than a meter in length up to 2 meters in length. Each vessel is designed to operate in different environments, from polar ice caps to urban waterways. Powered by solar panels, these vessels can operate for a few hours in a river up to multi-month-long missions in the ocean. These vessels will act as a platform for tools and instruments to enable scientific research and environmental activism.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Accessible:
Our vessels are built using a combination of 3D printing and fiberglass to keep costs down without compromising on strength and make them as easy to build as possible. This method makes them a perfect option compared to other solutions including large institution-owned research vessels. We plan on creating guides, documentation, and even firmware libraries to make our vessels as easy as possible to build and operate.

🧪 Science and Activism:
Our vessels are designed to be modular and flexible allowing them to be adapted to any use case. They could be easily equipped for climate monitoring, whale pod tracking, or even vessel tracking and collection of incriminating evidence of bilge dumping.

❤️ Help Support Us:
To make this dream a reality we need funding. Tools, materials, prototypes, and testing equipment aren't cheap. We are a team of students balancing school and passionately working on this project in our free time. The only way we can afford to do this is with your help!

💵 How Will We Use Funds?
We currently have a bank account for the project to store our funds. These funds then go to tools and material costs including things like 3D printers, filament, fiberglass, resin, vessel parts, embedded development tools (debugger, scope, multimeter), and even satellite communication services for long-distance vessel test missions.
