Describe the bug
Afwall fails to acquire root after a few days running on my device. The only workaround for the issue is to kill the afwall process (see screenshot 1 on how I did this from termux) or reboot the phone.
Screenshot 2 happens occasionally, but most of the time I get the toast from screenshot 3

Firewall Logs
Log is empty

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

  • Device: Moto z4
  • Android OS: Stock android 10

Additional context
I don't know how to reproduce this from scratch, it just keeps happening every few days. I also found a few references to crashed services in logcat, I'm not sure how relevant they are. See service_restart.logcat.

I'm getting the same issue with AFWall+ 3.5.2.1 running on /e/OS 1.0 on a Samsung Galaxy S9 (SM-G960F).

Same here with AFWall+ 3.5.3 on the ancient Meizu PRO5 Android 7.0

The issue started on earlier versions (I would guess from about 3.5 or 3.4.x or so), about 9-10 months ago (not sure either). But with the previous versions it has happened rarely, once a week or even once a 2-3 weeks. Now, starting from the 3.5.2.1 I suppose, it happens every second time (or so) the phone switches from mobile to wifi or vice versa.

To mitigate this I have to open root manager, change the permission to "Ask" (instead of "Always allow"), kill AFWall+, wait till it started again by itself (doesn't work if I start it manually for whatever reason), wait AFWall+ asks for root access, allow it, open AFWall+, and enable it.

It's really annoying to constantly check if it has correctly applied rules each time I change connections not to mention the tedious procedure I described above. Could you please fix this? Or at least please suggest a previous version without this annoying bug to install till the bug is fixed?

BTW, I have several apps using root, which constantly running in background with no such problem. It definitely not the issue with the root access, as far as I can tell.
