Wacode Challenge

Thousands of people fly American each and every day. This awesome responsibility opens the door to incredible opportunities to help one another. American is passionate about giving back and we focus on three main areas:

  • Our heroes: Supporting U.S. military members and honoring their selfless sacrifice
  • Our well-being: To improve wellness and bring hope to patients
  • Our social good: Meeting the needs of global citizens by improving stability, health and care

We’d like you to build an innovative hack which addresses one or more of these categories that American could implement to make an even greater impact.

General Rules

Attendees and hacks must adhere to all Wacode rules and policies. We reserve the right to perform a technical inspection for any hack.

Judging Criteria

We will use the following criteria (adapted from the Wacode criteria) to judge which team will win our challenge:

  • Impact: How well does the solution address the challenge?
  • Innovation & Creativity: How creative is the solution?
  • Design: Is the solution well thought out and designed?
  • Implementation: depending on your team’s skill set, we’ll judge your project in one of the following categories
    • Technical Implementation: Does the app function? How challenging was the idea to implement? Does it utilize an API for real data? (any API can be used or you can use ours)
    • Idea/Roadmap: Is your idea well thought out? Do you have a roadmap for how to implement it? What is the long-term sustainability/feasibility of the idea? Can you pitch the idea well?

Prizes

Each team member from the winning team (max of 5) will receive the following:

Miles for (1) round trip economy ticket to any domestic city where American flies, including Hawaii and Alaska (30,000 AAdvantage Miles)1

1 Nominal service fee for booking travel is not included. Miles must be redeemed in the MileSAAver category of service to obtain tickets to the regions mentioned above.
