Text-to-Speech Extension

This Chrome extension allows you to select text on web pages and have it read aloud using the browser's text-to-speech capabilities.

Installation

  1. Clone or download this repository to your local machine.
  2. Open Google Chrome and go to chrome://extensions.
  3. Enable the "Developer mode" toggle on the top right corner.
  4. Click on "Load unpacked" and select the folder where you cloned/downloaded the extension.
  5. The extension will be added to Chrome and ready for use.

Usage

  1. Browse to any web page in Chrome.
  2. Select the desired text on the page by clicking and dragging the cursor.
  3. Click the extension icon in the Chrome toolbar.
  4. The selected text will be read aloud using the browser's text-to-speech capabilities.

Features

  • Select any text on a web page and have it read aloud.
  • Uses the default text-to-speech engine provided by the browser.
  • Supports multiple languages and voices based on the browser's configuration.

Limitations

  • The text-to-speech capabilities depend on the browser's native support, so voice options and quality may vary.
  • The extension currently supports Google Chrome only.
