One of the main outcomes of this project is figuring out how to create, explore and run a web application in a development environment, then deploying it to the production environment in accordance with Test-Driven-Development(TDD) approach.
👉 Building a React Messenger App 💻
👉 Deploying a React app with Firebase Hosting 🌐
👉 Server-less cloud functions to process each of the messages sent 🚀
👉 Real-time database with Firebase’s Firestore 🔥

- Exploring and understanding Firebase
🚀⌨️ What we'll be building
🚀⌨️ Start your REACT project `npx create-react-app .`
🚀⌨️ Create app on Firebase
🚀⌨️ Start your react app locally
🚀⌨️ Clean up your REACT app
🚀⌨️ Create input field
🚀⌨️ Add firebase hosting to your app
🚀⌨️ Add ability to send message
🚀⌨️ Question: Why use useState instead of a normal variable?
🚀⌨️ Question: Why use useEffect?
🚀⌨️ Let's use Material-UI `core/icons`
-
React : React. js is an open-source JavaScript library that is used for building user interfaces specifically for single-page applications. It's used for handling the view layer for web and mobile apps. React also allows us to create reusable UI components.
-
Firebase : Firebase is a toolset to “build, improve, and grow your app”, and the tools it gives you cover a large portion of the services that developers would normally have to build themselves, but don’t really want to build, because they’d rather be focusing on the app experience itself. This includes things like analytics, authentication, databases, configuration, file storage, push messaging, and the list goes on. The services are hosted in the cloud, and scale with little to no effort on the part of the developer.
This project was developed with the following technologies:
- Mozilla Web Development
- React
- React-Hooks
- Styled Components
- Firebase Realtime Database
- Firebase Hosting
- Material UI
- Material-UI/icons
- React Flip Move
- BEM — Block Element Modifier
- VS Code
- npm— Node Package Manager

This project was bootstrapped with Create React App.
In the project directory, you can run:
Runs the app in the development mode.
Open http://localhost:3000 to view it in the browser.
The page will reload if you make edits.
You will also see any lint errors in the console.
Launches the test runner in the interactive watch mode.
See the section about running tests for more information.
Builds the app for production to the build
folder.
It correctly bundles React in production mode and optimizes the build for the best performance.
The build is minified and the filenames include the hashes.
Your app is ready to be deployed!
See the section about deployment for more information.
Note: this is a one-way operation. Once you eject
, you can’t go back!
If you aren’t satisfied with the build tool and configuration choices, you can eject
at any time. This command will remove the single build dependency from your project.
Instead, it will copy all the configuration files and the transitive dependencies (webpack, Babel, ESLint, etc) right into your project so you have full control over them. All of the commands except eject
will still work, but they will point to the copied scripts so you can tweak them. At this point you’re on your own.
You don’t have to ever use eject
. The curated feature set is suitable for small and middle deployments, and you shouldn’t feel obligated to use this feature. However we understand that this tool wouldn’t be useful if you couldn’t customize it when you are ready for it.
