Concept 2 Endless game

Intro

Open (infinite) space with small planets (where one can mine resources/fuel) that can be occupied by players/alliances (one can build a base on a planet, other player can form an alliance around that base) and used as protection. A base requires resources for upgrades and fuel for propelling the planet. Players (small drones) join the game at random location fight each other and manage the base (there should be a competition even within a single alliance, to avoid a single dominating alliance). The game lasts forever: a player losses when pushed away from the game zone and can join the game again (with nothing).

Goal (player)

Survive for as long as you can to get the most score.

Goal (alliance)

Protect the base and defeat other bases (alliances).

Gameplay/Controls

A drone can move in the space with very small speed (normal power is barely enough to withstand the gravity). Fuel can be used to move faster, push other plays, and return to the game zone when pushed away. Everything happens in real-time.

Players

  • All drones have the same properties with the following basic features: standard movement without fuel (WASD), fast movement consuming fuel), rapid acceleration to push other player (higher acceleration -> higher fuel consumption), and carrying resources/fuel
  • upgradable?

Planets/bases

  • Planets are used to build a base (automatically alliance is formed)
  • Anyone can request to join an alliance
  • Bases/alliances give some protection, but require resources (more alliance members -> more resources are required to create some competition even within the alliance)
  • Planets are movable, e.g. once can build engines on the base and start propelling it towards a planed with resources to shorten the path, etc.

Score/other

  • it should be hard to survive longer than 40 mins (some wear, or health?)
  • Score is added continuously but slow
  • collecting resources and upgrading the base adds score
  • killing/damaging enemies and their bases gives score
  • some perks?
