Not sure how persistent the confusion will be. Seeing a bit of it but it seems forced (to try to make us look bad?):

IMHO just add an entry to the bottom of the FAQ, like
"How does this relate to the previous 'Fair Source' model?" and explain how you inherited the website, twitter handle, how that project was abandoned, and briefly how you differ from them.

Seems worthwhile to make explicit, especially because these old critiques on the previous model are being brought up, you don't want that confusion.

On separate notes:

  • maybe be more careful with wording in the future (is there a better way than saying "we're defining a new term" ?)
  • unfortunately if you ever want to trademark "Fair Source", this could be problematic. except if you work with the "previous" folks, i suppose.
