Product and Version [VS/VSCode]: 1.22.0-insider
OS Version [macOS/Windows]: macOS
Live Share Extension Version: 0.2.260
Target Platform or Language [e.g. Node.js]: N/A

When installing the extensions for the first time, it's not clear what's going on under the hood, it just shows installing in status bar and because the extension ain't small it takes several minutes to install.

Would be nice to also include progress (download status in percentages).

@iCyberon Thanks for the feedback! We're working to trim the payload size and the amount that needs to be downloaded. VS Live Share's agent uses .NET Core so the OS specific runtime is being acquired along with some other things we likely will not need to acquire long term. We can look at giving a better indication of progress as well.

The dependency downloader now shows status in the VS Code status bar, to address this issue. Let us know if you don’t think that experience is sufficient, and we can re-examine it. Thanks!
