Previously, when the upgrade failed in the initram the file /sysroot/root/tmp_leapp_py3/.leapp_upgrade_failed has been generated and upon detecting this file leapp triggered an emergency shell. This caused the original failure to be hidden from the customer.

With this commit, we no longer crash immediately upon detecting the file but rather continue and "wait" for the underlying issue and error to emerge.

To launch on-demand tests with packit:

  • /packit test --labels kernel-rt to schedule kernel-rt tests set for all upgrade paths
  • /packit test --labels beaker-minimal-8.10to9.4,kernel-rt-8.10to9.4 to schedule kernel-rt and beaker-minimal test sets for 8.10->9.4 upgrade path

See other labels for particular jobs defined in the .packit.yaml file.

Note: In case there are problems with tests not being triggered automatically on new PR/commit or pending for a long time, please contact leapp-infra.

@dkubek I would add info that any other following error could be potentially misleading as there was a problem discovered before which could affect any other leapp execution.
