- Function to read contiguous blocks from multiple files into an RDD - Functions to save blocks out to binary or text
- New Thunder Context wrapper that provides access to loading functions - Separate context methods for loading binary and text, loading example data sets, and importing and converting from other formats

Adding new capabilities and API for loading and converting various input formats. A new Thunder Context provides a wrapper for a Spark Context in order to expose different loading options. Format support for direct loading includes text and fixed length binary files. Additional support for loading and reformatting binary stack files.
