Meta-issue to implement translucency:

  • Additive surfaces (sprites, beams, fake god rays), rtx: additive translucency #170
  • Refractive surfaces ("physical"): react to light, reflective and refractive: glass, water
  • Subtractive surfaces: translucent transmission attenuation (only attenuates rays coming through, does not participate in lighting/reflections or anything). Smoke? Weird sprite/beam modes?

what else?
