Welcome to the eMission wiki!

Project Description

  • The eMission’s project will consist of research and design for the carbon footprint application with an emphasis on an individual’s car emissions. We will identify a target market for our app and design its features around what our users would like to see in the app. Users are encouraged to actively participate in climate action and the problems associated with it. The rationale behind this project is that if individuals are more conscientious about their impact on the earth, the sustainability goal of climate action can also be encouraged.

Project Goals

Teamwork

  • We want to learn how to work together efficiently as a team.
  • Practice and understand time management and cooperation with a large scale project

Secure Software Awareness

  • Learn about best practices for secure software.
  • Ensure proper security measures are in place.

Utilize SCRUM

  • Gain experience using the principles of SCRUM.

Research Analysis

  • Prioritize and evaluate our business goals and match them with product goals.
  • Gain experience in market research

Software Design

  • Plan our mobile app's software architecture.
  • Create a functional application
  • Update the application on a regular basis for the duration of the project

Business Goals

  1. Increase & Expand User Engagement

    • We want to give a prototype of the app to real users to test and use. Inviting groups of people on campus to make their own personal challenge group. Our target demographic is the younger generations of Generation Z, and Millenials. However, we will keep the main features of the app are easy to use, with the more advanced features like joining a challenge group stored in the menus as an feature.
  2. Promote Education & Awareness

    • Users will learn about their personal carbon footprint as well as how it compares to larger carbon footprint creators. By participating in challenge groups, or viewing the leaderboards, they can see how their scores compare.
  3. Maintain App Performance

    • Make users aware of any updates necessary, but try to keep these at a minimum
