Since we're interested in better architecture for solutions rather than *more* hardware, we might inform ourselves by biomimicry and divide a complete system much like the human organism:

• Security: immune system
• Processing/Scheduling: brain
• User I/O: sensory-motor system
• Networking: nervous system
• Storage: bones
• Thermal managment (hardware redesigns): blood circulation

Since we advertise a "OS for the singularity", you can see where this might go wrt AI. The 3D visualization system would be for diagnostics to see the health of the system.
